The FAAST Story (So Far...)

There are also several sections of slickrock that are fun to ride and allow you to pick your own line. Clear Creek Trail is a fun single track that traverses the hills between Jack's Valley Rd and Highway 50. Trail is in good shape, minus dirt bikers dusting it up some. Tree down near southern trail head. Parking at the bottom is near mile 12 of Palmer Fishhook Road, while the top of the trailhead starts near mile 16 of Palmer Fishhook Road.

Third Divide makes up part of the classic Downieville downhill route. This trail can be ridden as a loop, or could be ridden as an out-in-back. Rowdy little downhill/freeride track. I need to learn how to jump! Probably not best to ride.

Butcher Ranch is the main trail for the classic Downieville Downhill. Having gotten that out of the way, the Mana Road ride is absolutely beautiful and worth the ride. The end of the jump line trail there is a fairly steep climb to get to the next section. Sadly, a better trail in this same zone (Barney Lake) is designated wilderness and is therefore 'unlawful' to ride. The objectives of this project are to promote mountain biking by creating a progressive trail that can be enjoyed by riders of all ages and ability level, and to increase the diversity of riding opportunities, demonstrate innovative and sustainable trail building design and techniques, and provide a model for other land managers for similar types of projects.
